Calibrating a clamp meter (current clamp) ensures accurate current measurement by verifying that the current coil functions correctly and produces magnetic force (MMF) equivalent to an ideal conductor. Calibration is typically carried out using low-frequency AC signals (50 or 60 Hz), as these reflect standard operating conditions for most applications.
When to Calibrate:
Clamp meters should generally be calibrated annually to maintain accuracy and comply with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications. However, the calibration frequency may vary depending on how often the instrument is used and the conditions in which it operates.
